The way that you set up search limits affects how facets behave when patrons limit their search results. When patrons limit their search results by a specific optional search limit in the Search drop-down list, or if their search results have been limited automatically by an enforced search limit, the navigators associated with the relevant facet or facets change accordingly.
For example, if you set up an search limit for a group of libraries that includes three different branches, when patrons limit their results by that search limit, the navigators that display with the Library facet include the three different library branches. If you set up an optional search limit for an individual library, and patrons limit their results by that optional search limit, the Library facet does not display.
